Creativity

This unit will cover creativity and will introduce the candidate to a number of ways that they can try to expand their own creative processes by analysing how the creative process works and what rules they can implement in their own approach.

Topics can include brainstorming, innovation, invention, insight, improvisation, muse, confabulation, lateral thinking, serendipity, accident, experimentation and interpretation.

The unit would look at the connection between creativity art, literature and science as well as analysing the day to day ways in which we are all being creative without recognising it. Part of the unit outcomes could be integrated within the main project but I also suggest a short report which will afford the candidate an opportunity to do valuable research in the first instance .

The unit parameters should be deliberately narrow and act as a guide or catalyst forcing the candidate to explore their creativity and inventiveness . The emphasis should be on encouraging playfullness and fun.

The unit would be suitable for candidates who want to increase their understanding of the role that creativity plays in all areas of game development and associated areas as well as enabling the growth of the candidates own creativity.
